“I want to see something dreamy with the familiar, the everyday life and nature. I want to show a dream of a child hunting a shooting star.”
Jacques Brun works mainly on a nostalgic search of an ideal nature and on the romantic perception that we create of it.
He employs photography to construct non narrative storylines: collections that could combine different typologies of images to express metaphoric quest for myths and dreams. The photographer explores deeply ingrained themes such as utopian nature, nostalgia of Eden, domestication of the environnement and wild desorganisation, expectational journies, or various treatment of intimacy found in the everyday. His work is a story on the border of two worlds: the reality inspired by the ordinary and the imaginary world construct on common myths.
Light is used in his work to speak about shapes, time and feelings. This allow him to sublimate things into an unique sculpture or transform anecdotic moments into timeless stories. He want to express a feeling out of the frame and point the unknown.
Born in Switzerland, Jacques Brun is graduated from ECAL in 2015
& is currently working and living in Paris as an Artist and a Commercial Photographer.
